WORDS FROM THE PASTOR

On this 27th Sunday in Ordinary Time, we are reminded that we have been given so many gifts and blessings by our Heavenly Father. Yet, in our fallen state it is all too easy to take them for granted. Our readings today teach us that we must live with an intentional awareness of our many blessings and use them gratefully to glorify God. Click here to continue.

GOOD NEWS STORY

On Thursday, September 14th a congregation from our parish youth group made a mini pilgrimage  to Our Lady of Lourdes Sanctuary of Rigaud.  This beautiful sanctuary celebrates outdoor daily and weekend masses from the end of May until October 1st.   Next year Our Lady of Lourdes Sanctuary will be commemorating its 150th anniversary.
It was an amazing experience to celebrate that mass with a few of the local people.  After mass we enjoyed a picnic together and prayed the rosary in the sanctuary.   We finished the evening off with a hike up the little mountain.  Many of the youth choose a rock to carry up the hill to offer as a little sacrifice for their own intention.   One particular youth chose a 70 pound sacrifice!  The whole youth group worked together to carry this sacrifice to the top of the hill….and down again!
Thank you to all the families who joined us on this beautiful little pilgrimage and supporting the parish in getting the youth there.
Pictured below is the youth in front of the sanctuary, then Charles Grant holding the 70-pound sacrifice at the top of the mountain, then the youth at the top of the mountain.

A CHRIST-CENTRED, CO-JOURNEY TOWARDS HEALING:

This weekend our families gather to give thanks to the Father for our many blessings. One of the ways that we can show our appreciation is by sharing with others. We are asking you to support the Indigenous Reconciliation Fund on Nov. 4&5th. All monies raised will be used to support initiatives by local Indigenous groups and organizations. One project that has received funding, thanks to your generosity, is a series of six retreats organized by Kateri Native Ministry to promote healing and reconciliation.
