Thank You

And the angel said to them, “Be not afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which will come to all the people.”

Lk 2:10

Happy Holy New Year! So, how was your Christmas? Too soon? It was difficult to cancel some – three – of our Christmas Masses last weekend. Many family and friends, and all our plans, were affected by the winter storm. It hurt me too not to have our churches open, and to see all our parish families around the Family Table, the altar, to celebrate together. I appreciate your prayers as well. All our Mass Intentions were celebrated at each of the Christmas Masses at St. Finnan’s Basilica (5pm, 7pm, and 10am).

Also, thank you! I wanted to thank all parishioners that worked hard to help make Christmas in our parishes beautiful, and fruitful. Many shared their time and talents – especially liturgical ministries: hospitality, lectors, sacristans, and especially our musicians. Thanks you to our CWL sisters who wrote many Christmas cards and called parishioners living in our residences. Thanks also to our parish staff, and all parishioners who prayed for us during Advent, supporting Youth Ministry, discerning new Seniors ministry in the new year, and our ongoing prayers for vocations. Thank you to all who also shared their treasures, and donations with our parish family during this season of giving. Our gifts to the church is an act of thanks to what God is doing in our own lives.

God is good! He is working in our parish family, and it is wonderful to work and pray in His vineyard with all of you. Thank you once again for your generous gifts to me personally – cards, donations, and prayers! My cup overflows! God is good! Merry Christmas, and Happy Holy New Year 2023. Peace.

ps. Clergy brunch last Sunday after Christmas Mass, at the rectory. Let us continue praying for one another.

Frs. Allan MacDonald, Gilles Marcil, Marc Gaudet, Louis Groetelaars, and me.
