PARISH VISION

To rekindle the Catholic faith in Glengarry, proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ, and build the Kingdom of God.

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

Our readings today call us to love as Christ loves. This request from our Lord is no small endeavor. It is something we must work at every day in every moment. When we put it at the forefront of our minds and hearts, and strive to live it out each day, it will transform our lives and impact others, too.

Please pray for all our parishioners who will be celebrating their First Confession this weekend, in preparation for their First Holy Communion at the end of May.

PASTOR’S MONTHLY INTENTION
That the leaders and members of the Church may fulfill with joy their calling to proclaim, celebrate, and serve the Gospel of Life, we pray to the Lord.

WELCOME TO THE SERVANTS OF THE CROSS

There is also a new season happening for us, the Servants of the Cross. Our community has grown to the point where we are establishing a new household in Cornwall, Ontario. This new location will be the house of formation where women who are in their two years of Applicancy will come to live, learn, and grow closer to God as well as be formed in our life. This will be the first time in over 20 years that we will not be all together under one roof. It is a big step for us!” Please pray for our sisters.  Please visit: https://servantsofthecross.ca/2024/04/18/a-new-springtime/

DID YOU KNOW THIS ABOUT OUR LITURGY?

About Liturgical Singing: *Why do we have music at mass? Many people seem to have the idea that God loves quiet and hates noise of any kind. Really though, our liturgy is musical in its essence, and repeatedly the psalms urge, “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord.” We contemplate God in silence; but we praise God with joyful noise. We gather before God at the Sunday Mass because God has called us together for praise. “From age to age you gather the people to yourself, so that from east to west a perfect offering may be made in the glory of your name.” *Why should we sing at mass? Isn’t singing at mass the choir’s job? And aren’t they the people with voices that are pleasing to God? Well, if God created your voice, it must be pleasing to God. More importantly, we sing because it has been our job and our joy, since the day of our baptism, to sing the praise of God. We have all been saved by God. We all share in the new life God gives us. We are all members of the body of Christ. We should all give voice to the joy of new life. Singing together unites both our voices and our hearts. For this purpose, we are brought together: to become one with Christ and with each other in glorious praise of God. So, go ahead; don’t be afraid. Open the hymn book. Sing your heart out!

SPECIAL COLLECTIONS

Throughout the year, the Archdiocese takes up collections to help build the Kingdom of God. Our people are generous, and we want to honour that generosity by sharing the purpose and fruits of each collection. The funds collected are sent to worthy organizations whose work serves to further the mission of the Church. We know God is doing great things with the gifts we entrust to him.
The Pope’s Pastoral Works (Pastoral Works of the Holy Father) The special collection (May 4th/5th) for the Pope’s Pastoral Works plays a crucial role in supporting the Holy Father’s charitable endeavors worldwide, bringing hope and healing to the vulnerable.
This collection:  provides direct aid to global humanitarian efforts, such as disaster relief, education, and healthcare initiatives; provides direct assistance to marginalized communities, promotes social justice, and alleviates poverty; facilitates prompt responses to urgent needs; and amplifies the Pope’s ability to make a positive impact to create a more compassionate and inclusive global community.
