FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

Easter Sunday, we celebrate the Resurrection of Christ! Our readings today reveal how we can live out the joy of Easter all year long in our day-to-day lives. This event is the greatest event in our Catholic faith. It is through the resurrection that Christ defeated sin and death and opened for us the gates to eternal life. All of God’s promises are fulfilled through this glorious event. We have been preparing for 40 long days, through prayer and penance, so that we might be better prepared to receive Christ this day, and to better prepare our hearts to one day rise with Christ in eternal life. Today, we do not fast, but rather, celebrate and rejoice because of our great and merciful God!

For our parish community, that the Holy Spirit would move us to live Eucharistic lives in worship and in service, let us pray to the Lord.

OUR HOLY WEEK SCHEDULE

March 28th:  Holy Thursday (St. Finnan’s Basilica):  7PM
Holy Thursday, also known as Maundy Thursday, is a significant day observed during Holy Week, the week leading up to Easter Sunday. It commemorates two key events: the Last Supper and the washing of the feet by Jesus Christ.
The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed on the Altar of Repose which is a temporary altar. Adoration will be possible until 10PM.
March 29th:  Good Friday (St. Finnan’s Basilica): 3PM
Good Friday is an important day observed during Holy Week, commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and His death on the cross. It is a solemn day of reflection and mourning for Christians worldwide.
March 30th:  Easter Vigil (St. Finnan’s Basilica):  8PM
The Easter Vigil is rich in symbolism and is a powerful and profound liturgical experience, as it leads us from darkness to light, from death to new life in Christ. Please pray for our three catechumens – Sam, Yuan, Milliana, as they complete their OCIA formation and will be received into the Catholic Church.
March 31st:  Easter Sunday (St. Finnan’s Basilica):  All regular Sunday Masses

Attending my Cursillo weekend lit a fire within me, bringing a conversion in me to not only want to have faith but to be alive in my faith. I continue to grow in my relationship with Jesus every day and am so thankful for my ‘yes’ to the weekend that started it all.” For more information please contact: Maureen Miller 613-363-4063.
