FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

Today, the Fourth Sunday of Lent, is what is called Laetare Sunday. Most of us are quite accustomed to the Mass being conducted in our native tongue, and we may have lost track of the fact that Latin is still the official language of the Church. On occasion Latin reasserts itself. This Sunday is one of those times as Laetare means “Rejoice” in Latin – which we also hear in the Mass entrance antiphon. As part of this more upbeat attitude and approach to our celebrations of Mass this weekend, there is a focus on salvation and redemption, which is the reason we have to “rejoice”.

PASTOR’S MONTHLY PRAYER INTENTION:  During the month of March, let us pray for these elect whom the Church has confidently chosen. May they successfully complete their long preparation and at the Paschal Feast find Christ in his Sacraments. That they may ponder the word of God in their hearts and savor its meaning more fully day by day, let us pray to the Lord: R. Lord, hear our prayer.
