PARISH VISION

To rekindle the Catholic faith in Glengarry, proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ, and build the Kingdom of God.

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

In today’s First Reading from the Book of Genesis we hear the story of Adam and Eve and their sins, defying God. However, when God was present in the garden, the man and woman hid themselves. Adam responds to God’s question in part by saying “I was afraid… so I hid myself.” Did he, do any of us really think we could hide from God? What are we hiding from? In recent weeks we have learned over and over how much God loves us. It is time for us to accept that and not hide.

DID YOU KNOW THIS ABOUT OUR LITURGY?

About Liturgical Ministry: What are Ministers of Hospitality?  The Pastoral Notes for the Celebration of the Eucharist in Light of the Revised Roman Missal, published in 2012 by the CCCB, gives this description for Ministers of hospitality: “Since the Church is the family of God, the “front line” ministry of the Eucharist is the ministry of hospitality. This ministry is exercised first of all by the assembly itself. More specifically, the ministers of hospitality greet the brothers and sisters of the community of faith, and especially newcomers, visitors, and those who need assistance, in a warm and friendly manner as they arrive for the celebration of the feast. Throughout the Eucharist, they attend to the needs of the household in a familial and gracious way. In fulfilling this ministry, ministers of hospitality exercise the hospitality of God, who is the host of the paschal feast.” The ministry of hospitality that we exercise at the Eucharist must be the liturgical representation of the hospitality that fills our daily living. Hospitality is not an option; for the Christian, it is the bottom line. From Matthew chapter 25, we hear “… Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry, and you gave me food, I was thirsty, and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me”.
