CANADA DAY MASS

There will be a Canada Day Mass on Saturday, July 1st at 9am at St. Finnan’s Basilica. All are welcome!

CELEBRATING CANADA DAY

Canada Day is this weekend! How can we celebrate this day with Christ in mind?

  • Attend Sunday/Saturday Mass and celebrate together as a parish family.
  • Take a few moments to thank God for all the blessings we have received from this land.
  • Remember those who have suffered in this country or been mistreated. Offer something up for them this weekend.
  • Pray specially for Canada’s Indigenous Peoples, that the Lord would bless and protect them.
  • Invite a neighbour to Mass!
  • Serve your neighbourhood and/or family by offering to do a chore for them.
  • Donate to a food bank or shelter.

We are often caught up by politics and arguments. It’s easy to rail against those in public office, especially if we don’t agree with their leadership, and to forget they are also our brothers and sisters in Christ.
This Canada Day, take a moment to pray for those in public office. We ask not that their minds be changed to suit us, but that they would genuinely encounter the love of God and His joy. May God give them wisdom, courage, and good health.

PASTOR’S BLURB

As we prepare for our vacation time, we all start thinking about what clothes to bring. We start by getting all the clothes out we think we’ll need. Then after sifting through everything we make a decision and hope the clothes, shoes, and all will fit. The same thing happens in ministry. This past year we have been on a similar journey regarding parish renewal – looking at what has worked and not worked in parish ministry, and deciding what we need now, and what will have to wait. This is what our parish leadership has been working on, discerning our next steps. Though there will be less meetings this summer, the church is still open, the parish is still alive. I hope to have an update next week regarding my meeting with the Archbishop and his leadership team on July 4. Click here to continue reading….
