Welcome Dcn. Michael El-Nachef
Dcn. Michael is one of our seminarians and was ordained to the transitional diaconate on Friday, May 6at Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica, Ottawa. He is excited to join our team this summer, living in Alexandria with Pere Didier Kaba, and working with me at Maison Shalom House.
Michael’s journey towards the priesthood began after an encounter with the Divine Mercy while on pilgrimage in Poland. He began his studies for the priesthood in 2016, and will return to St. Augustine’s Seminary in Toronto this Fall before his ordination to the priesthood in 2023. Michael’s parents are Lebanese-Canadian, he was born in Montreal and grew up in Barrhaven. He studied Biology at the University of Ottawa and was planning on working with wildlife or becoming a veterinarian. Please help me welcome Michael to SDG!
Welcome Dcn. Kevin Burgess
Deacon Kevin Burgess is 34 years old and has completed his studies with St. Peter’s Seminary in London. He is originally from Cornwall, ON and completed his pastoral year with Fr. Michael Leclerc at St. Ignatius Parish in Montreal.
Dcn. Kevin’s priestly ordination will take place on May 31st at 7:00 pm at Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica. We invite you to join Dcn. Kevin for his ordination!
Ordination Anniversary of Fr. Jonathan
Happy ordination anniversary to our Fr. Jonathan! Fr. Jonathan was ordained to the priesthood on May 2nd, 2009!
Salesian Sister Summer Camp
Join the Salesian Sisters of St. John Bosco in Cornwall for their summer camp.
For children aged 7 to 15 and running from July 4th to July 29th, these four weeks will be full of activities, outings, sports, music, arts, and crafts!
The details:
When: 9 am to 4 pm from July 4th to July 29th
Where: Agora Catholic Center
(301 McConnell Ave, Cornwall, ON K6H 4L4)
Who: Boys and girls who are 7-15 years old
Cost:
- One child: $80 + outing
- Two children per family: $130 + outing
- Three children per family: $ 180 + outing
- **The camp registration fee includes:
- T-Shirt, 1 snack (1 dry + 1 wet) a day, transportation to the outing places, materials, etc.
- Registration Dates: 7 to 9 pm on May 17, May 19, and May 26 in-person ONLY at 300 Montreal Road

St Finnan’s CWL – Roses
As in the past, St Finnan’s CWL will be offering roses at masses on Saturday May 7 and Sunday May 8.
All money that is collected will be sent to Our Lady’s Missionaries. This religious community was founded in Alexandria in 1949 and remained here until 1959. The Catholic Women’s League of Canada supported them in 1949 and continue to do so today.
