Mary Mother of God

by Dec 27, 2023Pastor's Blog

In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets;
in these last days, he has spoken to us through the Son.

Heb 1:1-2

During this Octave of Christmas, we continue to go to Jesus through Mary, on this Solemnity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God.

In a sense, when a child is born a mother is born. When a child is born, its mother begins to be a mother. Even if she was already mother to other children this new child makes her a new mother; a new chapter in her mothering begins. In the birth of the Son of God, Mary begins to be the Mother of God. When a Child is born, a Mother is born.

I hope you all received your copy of Matthew Kelly’s book, Beautiful Eucharist. Again, it is the Eucharist that will renew our parish. As our Parish Councils prepare to meet to work our vision-driven, and mission centered parish family, let us continue to go to Jesus through Mary.

Thank you again to all parishioners that worked hard to help make Christmas in our churches beautiful and fruitful. Many shared their time and talents. Thank you to all who also shared their treasures, and donations, with our parish family during this season of giving. Our gifts to the church is an act of thanks to what God is doing in our own lives.

God is good! He is working in our parish family and it is wonderful to work and pray in His vineyard with all of you. Merry Christmas, and Happy Holy New Year 2024. Peace.
