This weekend we begin the beautiful and holy season of Advent, the beginning of a new liturgical year. This year we are in Year B, in which the Gospel readings are drawn primarily from Mark. The last words from Sunday’s Gospel are often the most remembered, “keep awake”.  Thank you to all parishioners who participated in our Preaching Series on Stewardship, sharing our time, talents and treasure. Last weekend, we celebrated Edith Elizabeth Wolscht’s baptism at St. Finnan’s.

The St-Martin-de-Tours parish holds a large Christmas bazaar in the basement of the church (parish hall).  This bazaar will be open to everyone on Saturday, December 2, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. N.B: a light snack will be served…… for any information, please contact Gilles or Gisele Decoste at

All are invited to attend the Christmas Tea & Bazaar on Sunday, December 3rd, 2023, from 12-2 pm at
St. Anthony’s Church Hall, 3737 Old Orchard St., Apple Hill. Admission: Free will offering. Bring the family! There will be bake sales, games, various booths, draws, door prizes and more! Proceeds in support of
St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank.


The Glengarry Celtic Music Hall of Fame is having a Christmas Ceilidh at their Hall on
Sunday, December 3rd from 2-4 pm. Enjoy the music while sipping apple cider or punch and munching on Christmas goodies. Bring a friend, bring an instrument and celebrate. Donations go to Hospice Cornwall.


1)  St Finnan’s CWL extends sincere thanks to all who donated baked goods, shopped at, or supported in any way our Bake Sale last weekend. It was a wonderful success, bringing in just over $1,200! Our Annual Report was available at the Bake Sale, indicating how we distributed the funds raised in the past year. 2) The Catholic Women’s League sincerely thank all parishioners of St. James, St. Anthony and St. Finnan who donated boxes of Jell-O for Christmas baskets during the month of November. Jell-O is a tasty, inexpensive-to-prepare treat for less fortunate families, especially those with children. Your generosity is appreciated!

Enjoy a night of Christmas and Winter music with the Centennial Choir of Cornwall at Aultsville Hall, Cornwall, on Friday, December 8th at 7 pm. Our concert, “A WINTER’S NIGHT WITH YOU” will put you in a merry spirit. The tickets are $25 for an adult and $10 for children 12 and under. They are available at Fine Home Hardware, 1300 Vincent Massey Drive, Melody Music, 104 Pitt Street, Cornwall or from any choir member. Join us for some fun and reflection.


O Come, All Ye Faithful to our annual Candlelight Christmas Concert at St. Finnan’s Basilica on 
Saturday, December 9th at 7:00 pm. As Pope Francis noted, ‘light candles of hope in the midst of darkness’ so come join us for a magical evening. And let’s light out candles in support of our parishioners who will be sharing their musical talents and treasures! All are welcome so mark your calendars!

St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Maxville invites you to their Carols by Candlelight service on
Sunday, December 17th @ 7 PM. Come and join the Maxville Community Choir and guest musicians Paddy Kelly and the Morris Family as we celebrate the birth of Jesus in Scripture and song. Following the service plan to stay for hot mulled cider and Christmas goodies. A free-will offering will be received with the proceeds directed to the Maxville Manor Redevelopment Project.


Christmas lands on a Monday this year. This means on Sunday Dec. 24th, the morning masses will be for the 4th Sunday of Advent and the evening masses that same day will be Christmas Eve Masses. Please click here for more details.

First Communion formation centers on the Order of the Mass. Children gain an understanding of the Mass and the true presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. St. Finnan Catholic School is accepting new student registrations for September 2023! We invite parents/guardians to complete the online pre-registration by visiting Junior Kindergarten students must be 4 years of age by December 31, 2023 and Senior Kindergarten students must be 5 years of age by December 31, 2023.
