Here I Am

by Feb 13, 2021Pastor's Blog, Video

Lord, my God and my loving Father, You have made me to know You, to love You, to serve You, and thereby to find and to fulfill myself. I know that You are in all things, and that every path can lead me to You. But of them all, there is one especially by which You want me to come to You. Since I will do what You want of me, I pray You, send your Holy Spirit to me: into my mind, to show me what You want of me; into my heart, to give me the determination to do it, and to do it with all my love, with all my mind, and with all my strength right to the end. Amen

Prayer: To Know One’s Vocation

How do we share the Good News during a pandemic? How does one respond to the call to the priesthood? I enjoyed my talk with Fr. Pierre Champoux, Director of Vocations for the Archdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall. He explained his role, his current ministry, and offered some helpful advice to men who are discerning a call to Holy Orders.

We are all responsible to promote vocations. Of course, he is in his current role, but also I am as a pastor, and we are in our own families. Let us continue to pray for all vocations.

Lord Jesus Christ, You took to Yourself a body and soul like ours, to teach us the glory of self-sacrifice and service. Mercifully instill in our hearts the desire to dedicate our lives to You. Give us priests and deacons to stand at the altar and to speak the words of the gospel; brothers and sisters to teach the young, nurse the sick and minister charity to all; lay people to imitate You in their hearts, families, work and community. Amen.
