Sacramental Preparation 2022:
First Reconciliation (March) and First Holy Eucharist (April)

Dear Parents:

Happy Holy New Year!

Welcome to an exciting and rewarding new faith filled year for your child and family. Your child in Grade Two, Three or Four is invited to prepare to receive the sacraments of First Reconciliation (March) and First Holy Eucharist (April). Thank you to the families who have already registered last Fall. This information applies to all our families preparing to celebrate the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion, in preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation in a few more years.

Once again, this preparation begins with:

  1. An online registration during the month of January, via our website ! Nota Bene, the weekly parish news will be the main way to stay connected to all updates regarding the Sacraments.
  2. There will be two or three in-person meetings with parents and children at Shalom House. We are currently waiting on restrictions to lift to see when this will take place.
  3. The weekly emails will provide easy and accessible content to help you prepare your child to receive the Sacraments. The parish resource is Formed, and we invite you to sign up. It is free and there is great content for the whole family. Again, the weekly video resources will be sent via email as reminders.
  4. Finally please attend Sunday Mass. We look forward in getting to know you and your family. If you have not yet done so, please bring a copy of your child’s baptismal certificate.  (* If your child was baptized in another denomination, they will need to make a Profession of Faith before First Reconciliation.  ** If you wish for your child to be baptized, please contact Deacon John Kennedy ( john.kennedy@stfinnan.ca ) as well.)

Finally we will be uploading specific resources to help prepare for the Sacraments; they will be made available via email – again Nota Bene (parish news) will be the primary way we communicate this information. Again, please subscribe to the Parish News – Nota Bene.

If you have any questions, you may contact me as well or make an appointment.

I look forward to working with you to prepare your child for this major step in their life of faith.

Peace,

Fr. Jonathan Blake, Pastor
