Everybody needs the light

O house of Jacob, come,
let us walk in the light of the Lord.

Isaiah 2:1-5

Advent Theme: Let There Be Light.

Light is a necessary part of life. It provides clarity and direction so we can make our way. It provides safety and security. At this time of the year we feel the absence of light. During these next four weeks of Advent, we will look at our need for light and Jesus is the true light of the world.

In the past two months many of us have encountered the difficulty of parish renewal. Our Parish Renewal Committee met this past Tuesday to discuss all our Town Hall Meetings, and to discern where God is calling us to go. Come Holy Spirit. There was much discussion but no decisions have yet been made. However, parish renewal of our four North Glengarry Parishes also implies structural changes. Please continue to pray for renewal during the season of Advent. Let us continue praying for all parishioners as we grow in hope, love, joy, and peace. In January, the Parish Renewal Committee will meet again and plan our next meetings at each parish with greater details on how we will grow the Catholic Faith in Glengarry.

Finally, Sunday, this first week of Advent, we will look at the value of light, especially that it shows us where we should go and the paths we should take. We will look at the reading from Isaiah. God wants us to walk in his light so that we can make our way through this world that often seems so dark and difficult to navigate. God wants to light our way but we have to choose to walk in his light. Have a great week. Peace.
