Commitment Sunday

As each one has received a gift,
use it to serve one another as good stewards of God’s varied graces.

1 PETER 4:10

Dear Parishioner,

We are sincerely looking forward to seeing you next weekend at Commitment Sunday, December 2/3! The past three weeks you have been hearing the clergy preach on sharing your time, talent and treasure.

We know there is an alarming decline in attendance and participation in our Catholic churches in Glengarry. It is more alarming if we faithful Catholics do not take any concrete steps to make our Church a more dynamic place of hospitality and worship. It is my vision, our vision, to grow the Catholic faith in Glengarry.

I am 100% convinced that every single person who walks through our doors has some unique gift to offer to Christ and His Church. That gift can only be offered by you! I am praying for an outpouring of generosity and sharing this coming Sunday, December 2/3. It is my hope that every parishioner will actively participate in at least one ministry. Let me say that again, because I know you have a gift to offer. It is my hope that every parishioner will actively participate in at least one ministry.

Next week during mass you will be given an opportunity to officially register at our new parish and bless our parish in a concrete way by signing up for a ministry at our parish. Our parish will be greatly blessed by you.

Here are concrete ways to steward and give of your time, talent and treasure:

Treasure: Making a Consistent Gift to the Parish

“For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

Matthew 6: 19-21

In thanksgiving for God’s gifts, each household at our Parish is invited to give a specific percentage of income based on the Biblical tithe. We are recommending 6% to the Parish and 4% to Charity.

Weekly giving based on proportion of income: At our parish, each household is invited to work toward giving 6% of their income to the parish. Some families may have difficulty reaching this goal at first. If so, try increasing your weekly gift incrementally until you reach your goal.
