“I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all the other contributors to the treasury. For they all contributed out of their abundance; but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, her whole living.”
Mk 12:43-44
Thirty-second Sunday of Ordinary Time. Stewardship of our gifts, talents, and treasure has been an ongoing theme of ours in the past few months. Today, the focus is on our treasure. Jesus gets right to the point – we are all called to give money to support the mission of the Church, regardless of our circumstance. No gift is too small or insignificant! Giving money to support the mission of our local parish is a matter of our faith, just like praying and participating in parish ministries. When you make a financial offering, is it from your “first fruits” or from what is “left over”? Thank you for your continued support of our parish, our mission and our growth, as we continue to work to serve you and our local communities.
Again, thank you to each and everyone of one you who continue to share your gifts, talents and treasure. If you have suggestions on how to improve our donations, please let our team know.
Thank you very much to Amy and James who have worked hard on preparing the newest Quarterly Report. The Annual Report will come out after Christmas, and more financial details for our parishes will be provided. However, as was noted in this current report, it has been a financially challenging year for our parishes. It is our hope that each of us will prayerfully consider our financial support of our North Glengarry Parishes.
The aim of the Quarterly Report continues to be to communicate our vision, our mission to all our parishioners. How do we grow the Catholic Faith in our communities? I invite you to take time and read our Quarterly Report, and send me suggestions. The NGP Pastoral Council will be meeting December 1st, to discuss many of these concerns.
Finally, let us pray especially this weekend for all our ALPHA candidates. It is the Holy Spirit Weekend, and it is often a turning point for many on our spiritual journey. Expect God to act. Expect the Holy Spirit to work in your life. Let’s pray for the ALPHA Exec Team preparing Shalom House to welcome all candidates. Let’s pray for all the candidates, including the youth preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation later in November. Have a great week. Peace.
Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created.
